LES PTA Volunteer Information 2008-2009
Volunteer Registration
Any person doing any volunteer work in a Wake County Public school must register each year through the school system’s volunteer registration program. Registration can be completed at any Wake County public school. LES has several computers in its media center where volunteer registration can be completed. Once the registration information is submitted, it can be several weeks before clearance is obtained, so all persons wanting to volunteer are encouraged to register early in the school year. Examples of duties that require volunteer registration and approval include (but are not limited to): media center volunteer, classroom helper or room parent, field trip chaperone, and tutoring.
Receiving a PTA Volunteer Name Tag
LES provides you with a name tag every time you sign into the Ident-a-Kid system located in the front office. You must sign in to this system when you enter the building and please make sure to sign out before leaving the building. Your name tag must be worn at all time while in the school building, this helps administrators, teachers and staff to protect our children. At PTA events the office mostly likely will not be open to sign in so PTA can provide you a name tag for events if you would like to where one. If you are new to LES or have lost your old tag please contact Julie Bowyer at thebowyers@earthlink.net. If you are returning to LES please keep your name tag for PTA events and feel free to wear them.
Recording Volunteer Hours
Please record all volunteer hours! It’s important because our hours are reported to Wake County and compared to other schools in the area. The more we report the better standing we have with the county and state. NEW THIS YEAR located in the front office you will find a computer setup with Ident-a-kid software. This program will be used to track your volunteer hours. When signing in use the “Volunteer” login and fill in accordingly. Click okay and smile as it will take your picture and print you a name tag to be worn while in the building. PLEASE, PLEASE SIGN OUT! If you do not sign out we have no way of knowing exactly how many hours you volunteered that day and there fore you will only be credited for 1 hour of time. DON’T FORGET TO SIGN OUT! For every 25 hours of service your name will be entered into a gift card drawing at the end of the school year. For PTA events that are not during school hours you must contact Casey Rainey crainey1@earthlink.net or look for the volunteer sign in sheet at each event to sign in and out to track your hours. The volunteer coordinator appreciates all efforts in helping keep track of your hours.
