Leesville Elementary offers a variety of clubs and activities for students to enjoy and further enhance skills and character traits taught in our classrooms. Students are able to join some activities only at specific times of the year (such as at the beginning of the year or semester) and others allow members to join throughout the year. Most of these activities welcome and encourage parental involvement. For more information about any LES student activities, please email the appropriate advisor for that activity.

Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 4:00 to 4:45 in the Media Center . If you have any questions, you may contact Astrid Flores at ahadevin@earthlink.net . Large Art

The Large Art Club is a group of fifth grade students who meet once a week to work on special projects. These creative endeavors include works for themselves and our school. Past club members have painted murals in our hallways and have also painted murals for special community projects, such as painted doors for Habitat for Humanity. Some painted furniture has gone to auction for other charities, as well. The P.T.A. requests Large Art students to paint banners for special events. Students also paint the scenery for the musicals and choral performances. Projects for students, themselves, usually include a painted piece of furniture and a clay mirror frame. The P.T.A. has sponsored this club for many years.

Fifth grade students apply to the Large Art Club by writing a letter to Mrs. Thomas expressing their desire to join the club at the beginning of the school year. Students are chosen on the basis of their ability, attitude, self motivation and self discipline. There has been such a demand in the past few years that there are two sessions offered, one in the fall and one in the spring.
