Mrs. Chapman was born in Pennsylvania and has 2 older sisters. Her father was a coal miner so she calls herself a "coal miner's daughter." After she married her husband, they moved to New Jersey and she taught there for 5 years. In 1981, they moved to North Carolina and they love it here. Her husband is in the pharmaceutical business as well as her son, so she doesn't understand a thing they talk about.
Mrs. Chapman has one son, John August Chapman, who is married to a native Raleighite, Beth Glenn. They have two beautiful sons, John Joseph and James August. These grandchildren are two of the most beautiful babies to walk this earth. They live in Apex, so she can stop by often for those "gammie hugs."
In her spare time she loves to go to the beach with her family. They enjoy boating, taking long walks and watching the sun set. She also loves to read and decorate.
She is looking forward to an exciting time at Leesville where the renewed focus is on student achievement while looking through a somewhat different set of lenses.
