History: Leesville Elementary opened to students in August, 1992 as the elementary school portion of the three-school Leesville complex. Originally designed for 650 students, enrollment has been as high as 1,020 during the '95-'96 school year. At that point, 11 mobile units were located on the LES campus. A major reorganization occurred during the summer of 1996 to relieve the extreme crowding at the elementary and middle schools. The K-3 program was moved to Hilburn Elementary while grades 4-5 remained at LES. In addition, approximately 500 sixth graders were housed in the LES building but still operated on the middle school schedule and organizational scheme. At the start of the 1999-2000 school year, both Leesville and Hilburn returned to a K-5 structure, each with its own attendance area. Leesville Elementary will operate on a multi-track year round calendar beginning July, 2007.
